In the lead-up to the 2024 Canadian Secondary Schools Rowing Association (CSSRA) Championships, we are calling on all members of the Ridley rowing family to rally and support one of three key projects aimed at strengthening our rowing programme and empowering the continued success of our talented student-athletes.
You can be a part of Ridley’s tradition of athletic success by donating or forming a team to fundraise and support Ridley's Rowing Programme on the Road to the 2024 CSSRA!
Your generosity will make incredible things possible for our rowers and benefit our Rowing Programme by supporting new equipment (shells and oars, etc.), enhancements for our Boat House, and strengthening our scholarships and bursaries programme. Thank you for making a difference!
As part of the Road to CSSRA initiative, we are also fundraising for a new coxed four and oars to be christened in memory of longtime faculty member and coach Rick “Raz” Rasmussen. Should we raise funds in excess of $40,000, we will set up a new fund to support rowing in Raz’s name.
“Raz was a gentle giant who was loved by all, and his impact on many of our lives is immeasurable. Raz had a way of mentoring and coaching that was impactful on both high-level athletes and those who were stepping foot on the field or putting an oar in the water for the first time. His quiet leadership, pride, integrity and kindness made unforgettable impressions on all who crossed paths with him. He always had the athlete's best interest at heart, and we are better people for being coached by him.”
One of Canada's top secondary school programmes, Ridley Rowing is focused on early introduction, technical training, and smaller boats. Our program has earned 97 gold medals at the Canadian Secondary Schools Rowing Association (CSSRA) Championships, 25 victories at the Stotesbury Cup Regatta, and five Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup wins.
Thank you for showing your support of our programme and the talented student rowers who call Ridley home!
