Explorers Camps (Ages 13 to 16)

Our Explorers Camps challenge campers to grow their curiosity, creativity, collaboration and critical thinking skills in our one-of-a-kind camp offerings!

These academic or performance sports-based camps encourage campers to connect a passion to a profession. Campers will work as a team and independently, building self-confidence and communication.


Explorers Camp Offerings

Ridley College offers a premier destination for young athletes eager to hone their skills in Canada's beloved sport. Our summer camps provide a unique opportunity for players to train under the guidance of our expert coaching staff, who bring a wealth of national and international experience to the rink.  Our comprehensive program combines on-ice training sessions, off-ice conditioning and strategic workshops to foster holistic development as athletes and individuals.  

Weeks Offered:

Week 7: August 11 to 15

Fee: $525

This introduces campers to molecular biology and all things Bio Bob, the legendary Ridley Biology teacher. Campers will explore how genes interact with environmental factors to shape living organisms. Through hands-on lab experiments, they’ll learn DNA extraction, gene mapping, and basic genetic engineering techniques. Each day introduces concepts like genetic variation, adaptation, and biotechnology’s role in solving real-world problems. Participants will also discuss ethical questions surrounding genetics and environmental science. By the end of the week, they’ll have a deeper understanding of how molecular biology impacts our lives and the world around us.

Fee: $525

Campers will learn the fundamentals of hand-building, wheel throwing, and glazing as they create unique pottery pieces and functional art. Our experienced instructors will guide you through each step, from shaping your first bowl to crafting intricate designs. You’ll also explore different firing techniques and the artistic process behind transforming raw clay into beautiful works of art. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills, this camp offers a supportive and inspiring environment to grow as a ceramic artist. By the end of the week, you’ll have your own handcrafted pieces to showcase and take home!

This camp is designed for campers looking to improve their communication skills and confidence. Campers will learn how to structure compelling arguments, think critically, and present ideas confidently in debates. Each day, campers will practice forming arguments, handling counterpoints, and debating various topics with peers through parliamentary debate. By the end of the week, you’ll be ready to confidently tackle any debate challenge

This collaborative camp is designed to foster creativity while helping campers build essential skills in both individual expression and teamwork. Campers will explore the art of storytelling, learning how to develop characters and craft a compelling narrative that comes to life through the different elements of a production. They will discover how each piece of the creative puzzle fits together—from acting and directing to set design, and costumes—and how to combine these elements to create a polished and engaging performance. Campers will gain hands-on experience and will be equipped with the confidence and skills to bring their creative visions to life.

All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women are merely players. 

Campers will engage in a wide range of exciting and interactive activities designed to develop their acting abilities and creative expression.  Through hands-on scene work, theatrical improv games, script analysis and acting exercises, campers will enhance important skills such as creative problem-solving, effective communication, and self-confidence. Campers will learn to collaborate with others, building teamwork skills while deepening their appreciation for the performing arts. This camp provides a fun and supportive environment where campers can explore their creativity and grow both as individuals and as part of a team.

Level up your gaming skills in our eSports Fortnite camp, where competitive play meets student wellbeing! This camp offers coaching in Fortnite strategies, building techniques, and team dynamics, all while prioritizing mental and physical health. Learn how to maintain focus, manage stress, and balance gaming with healthy habits like exercise and mindful breaks. Through fun, interactive workshops, you’ll also explore teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship, developing both your gaming skills and personal growth. We emphasize positive online behaviour, self-care routines, and building resilience both in and out of the game. By the end of the week, you’ll have sharpened your gameplay and learned how to thrive as a well-rounded eSports competitor!

Get ready for an action-packed week at Fields camp, where you’ll get to play soccer, flag football, flag rugby, and field hockey! Each day, you’ll practice important techniques like passing, dribbling, and teamwork, while enjoying friendly competition with new friends. Learn the rules and strategies behind each sport, and improve your agility, coordination, and sportsmanship. Whether you’re new to these games or looking to refine your skills, Fields offers a fun, energetic environment to grow as an athlete. By the end of the week, you'll have sharpened your abilities and developed a love for these dynamic field sports!

In this exciting introductory camp, campers will immerse themselves in the world of filmmaking by exploring the different stages of production. Through interactive activities, they will discover how to combine essential elements to craft compelling, emotionally resonant stories.

Focusing on creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking, this camp provides the perfect foundation for budding filmmakers to develop their storytelling skills and gain a deeper understanding of the filmmaking process. Whether capturing a dramatic moment on camera or creating the perfect soundscape, campers will develop a newfound appreciation for the art of filmmaking and storytelling.

Step into the world of medicine at Future Doctors, where aspiring healthcare professionals can explore the exciting field of medicine! Through hands-on activities, you’ll learn about anatomy, medical tools, and the basics of diagnosing and treating common ailments. Discover how doctors use problem-solving, critical thinking, and compassion to help patients. Each day, you’ll engage in interactive workshops and labs, learning about the human body. By the end of the week, you’ll have a deeper understanding of the medical field and the skills that could one day make you a future doctor!

Get ready to design, build, and innovate at Future Engineers, where aspiring engineers can explore the world of technology and invention! Through hands-on projects, you'll learn about engineering principles and apply them to real-world challenges. Whether you're building bridges, designing simple machines, or experimenting with robotics, you'll gain valuable problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Work with your team to brainstorm ideas, test prototypes, and refine your designs, all while learning about different fields of engineering, from mechanical to electrical. By the end of the week, you’ll have a deeper understanding of engineering and the creativity it takes to shape the future!

Unleash your creativity and business savvy at Future Entrepreneurs, where you’ll learn how to build and launch your very own business plan! Over the course of the week, you’ll explore key aspects of entrepreneurship, including market research, product development, and financial planning. Collaborate with fellow campers to develop a unique business idea, craft a pitch, and create a plan that covers everything from branding to budgeting. Learn valuable skills in leadership, teamwork, and communication while gaining hands-on experience in real-world business challenges. By the end of the week, you’ll have a complete business plan and the confidence to start your entrepreneurial journey!

Get ready for an action-packed week exploring the games of squash, tennis, and pickleball! Whether you're a seasoned player or new to these sports, this camp is designed to improve your technique, footwork, and strategy through fun drills and friendly competition. Our experienced instructors will guide you through each game, teaching the unique rules and playing styles of each sport while helping you build strength and agility. You'll have the chance to compete in friendly matches, practice with peers, and receive personalized tips to take your game to the next level. Along the way, you’ll also learn the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork, and mental focus. By the end of the week, you'll have sharpened your racquet skills and be ready to take on any challenge, on or off the court!

Ridley’s Introduction to Rowing programme will introduce young athletes to the sport of rowing through daily on and off-water sessions held at Henley Island. Each session runs for two weeks from 9:00a.m. to 12:30p.m. each day, and they are best suited for those with no previous rowing experience.

Fee: $600 per session

Ridley’s Development Rowing programme will further develop the skills of novice rowers through daily on and off-water sessions on our home course, Henley Island. Each session runs for two weeks from 9:00a.m. to 12:30p.m. each day, and they are best suited for those who have completed a Learn to Row or Ridley’s Introduction to Rowing programme.

This immersive experience covers a range of artistic techniques, including ceramics, sculpture, pastel drawing, linography, and painting. Campers will work on both guided and independent projects, exploring texture, form, and color across various mediums. Instructors will provide personalized feedback to help refine techniques and develop a unique artistic voice. Each day will feature skill-building workshops and opportunities to collaborate with peers. The week concludes with a showcase of original works, highlighting each camper’s creative journey.
